Mr Snigs Outdoor Cat Kennels, now available from Swell Pets.

Until recently dog and cat kennels were always made of wood.

They were made down to a price, and were invariably made from cheap materials, stapled or nailed together, and suffered from dampness, leaks, and the subsequent rotting and degradation of the timber.

These conditions provide an ideal breeding ground for micro-organisms and parasites to hide and multiply in, once established these colonies cannot be removed due to the porous nature of the materials and the innumerable nooks and crannies and gaps in a Timber kennels construction.

The Opportunity

The past three years has seen the emergence of a small number of moulded plastic alternatives, offering significant benefits over their timber counterparts.

However, all of these, except the Mr Snug's range, are injection moulded as a kit, which needs to be assembled to various degrees into the final product. Their aesthetic design is dictated by the need of the separate components to 'stack' or pack into a kit or box, and are limited to 'round shapes' that can be moulded, but look nothing like a traditional kennel.
