Royal Canin Kitten Persian 32, now available from Swell Pets.
The Persian is without doubt the best known and most widespread of all purebred cats. She holds top place in the feline world, probably due to the sublime beauty of her coat and her impassive temperament.
The Persian's very dense coat together with her adult weight, varying between 3.3kg and 4.2kg, give her the breed's very recognisable massive and rounded silhouette.
This breed's very characteristic brachycephalic facial type (round head and flattened face) causes her to have a specific method of picking up food using the inner face of her tongue.
The only long-haired cat breed, an adult Persian has very dense fur – if each of her hairs were placed end to end they would measure an amazing 370 kilometres. Careful maintenance is therefore essential for this naturally beautiful and glossy coat, which is seen in 200 varieties of colour.
The length of her coat makes her particularly susceptible to hairballs. Hairs ingested during grooming pack together in the digestive system and can lead to vomiting or constipation. An appropriate food helps to stimulate their excretion through the digestive tract.
