Bakers Dog Food
Bakers pride themselves in offering Complete Dog Food which provides a balanced diet, packed with all the nutritional goodness that is required to keep your dog healthy and happy. Bakers are also aware that your dogs nutritional needs change dependant on their age, size and breed and have created a variety of dog foods to reflect this.
Benefits of Bakers Dog Food
Bakers Complete Dog Food consists of many different nutritional factors to ensure that your dog benefits from good digestion, healthy blood, gums, kidneys and liver.
It also contains the correct proportion of minerals to make sure that your dog is able to build and maintain strong bones and teeth, has the right balance of fluids in their body and also is able to support a good metabolism.
Fresh Meat and Protein is also included in the Bakers Complete range as proteins help to create muscle and support skin, hair, eyes, enzyme and antibody development along with supporting your dog’s hormones and haemoglobin.
Bakers are aware that Dogs create their own Vitamin C and do not necessarily need carbohydrates, however, in some of the complete mixes where Bakers feels that it is required some high quality Carbohydrates or plant based sugars (which break down during digestion) are included to create energy for your dog.
Bakers know how important it is to ensure that the digestion of your dog is at its maximum potential as more Proteins, Minerals, Vitamins and Nutrients will be absorbed from your dog’s food, ensuring that your dog will always receive the maximum goodness possible.

Bakers Example Feeding Guide
Puppies & Junior Dogs
Bakers suggest that as your puppy/junior dog will be burn approximately 2 or 3 times more calories than when they reach adult age that you should always ensure that you feed them a specialised puppy or junior dog food such as the Bakers Complete Puppy & Junior.
These types of specialised foods not only have smaller kibble to suit your puppies mouths and teeth, but they also include extra vitamins and minerals to support their growing bones, muscle, teeth and hair as well as helping them to build a strong immune system.
Bakers recommend that as your puppy or junior dogs stomach is smaller than it will be when they are fully grown, you should consider feeding them their daily allowance over a number of feeds making their meals little but often, their guide is as follows:-
- 6 Weeks – 3 Months = 4 times a day.
- 3 – 6 Months = 3 – 4 times a day.
- 6 Months – Adulthood = 2 – 3 times a day.
Adult Dogs
To ensure that your dog stays fit and healthy their diet needs to include plenty of proteins, fats & oils, minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates and of course water. Once your dog reached adult hood (which is 12 months for most dogs, expect some of the larger breeds for whom it can be 24 months) they can stay on the same diet right up until the end of their 6th year (this excludes bitches who are pregnant or nursing).
The feeding guide for an adult dog is usually once per day, however, Bakers recommend that some deep chested breeds such as Dobermans and also smaller breeds which have smaller stomachs may benefit from their allowance being split into 2 feeds per day.
Senior Dogs
When your Dog reaches 7 years old their body will start to undergo some changes as they head into their Senior Years such as a slower metabolism and digestion, stiff joints and becoming generally not as active as they had been in their Puppy, Junior and Adult years.
Bakers again are aware of the changes that your dog will go through and have created Bakers Senior Dog Food. Bakers Senior not only has reduced calories, it has high quality fat protein included which is easier for your senior dog to digest, smaller kibble making it easier for them to chew and a higher meat content to make the complete mix more appetising as your dogs smell and taste can be reduced with age.
Also extra carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals are included to ensure that your dog will have all the goodness and nutrients that they need for their senior years.
Bakers recommend that you feed your Senior Dog 1 – 2 times per day, although you may find that as they become older they will prefer their daily allowance to be split to produce smaller meals on a more regular basis. This will help your dog’s digestive system and should also ensure that they absorb the maximum amount of nutrients from their food.
You may find that if your dog’s movement is becoming more restricted that they may prefer to have the level of their feeding bowl raised to make eating much easier for them to manage.
Small Breeds
Bakers know that smaller breeds of dogs nutritional needs differ from that of dogs of a standard size. Small Breeds require food which is packed with high quality proteins and contains more fat and carbohydrates than that of standard adult food and so have developed Bakers Adult Dog Food Small Breeds. This is because smaller breeds of dogs are exceptionally active & fast and due to this tend to have a higher metabolism and burn off more calories.
When feeding a smaller breed of dog Bakers recommend that your spread their daily allowance over 2 – 3 feeds during the day.
Overweight Dogs
Bakers have also created a food which is specifically aimed at dogs who easily gain weight such as larger breed dogs or dogs which are not particularly active.
Bakers are aware that if a dog becomes overweight it can seriously affect their health and they can develop medical conditions such as Diabetes and Arthritis as well as causing Respiratory and Heart Conditions.
Due to this Bakers have created a low in fat, but high in protein, vitamins and minerals food called Bakers Complete Dog Food Weight Control. Bakers always recommend that you seek advice from your Vet prior to placing your dog on a low calorie diet food.
Bakers Notes to Remember
Always remember to make sure that your dog has access to fresh water, not just during feeding times but all through the day and night.
It is also strongly advised that you make sure there is at least an hour in time between feeding your dog and taking them out for a walk, or out to play as this will help to avoid any damage to their stomach.
