School launches dog food collection drive

School launches dog food collection drive

A school in the US has launched a dog food collection drive.

Dog food is being collected by a school in the US which is helping out local animal shelters.

The second grade students at Paul Smith Elementary School are collecting the dog food in order to aid shelters in the region, while other non-perishable items such as cat litter and air fresheners are also being welcomed.

According to a report in the Citizen of Laconia, the appeal is being run until March 8th 2011, with products such as paper towels, hand cleaners and hand sanitisers also needed.

Other dog supplies such as dry dog food, treats and toys can also be donated to the school in order to benefit the animal shelters in the area, while items which can be used by cats are also being appealed for.

Dog food is needed to keep pets' strength up, after research conducted by insurance company esure found that owners walk their pets an average of 1,855 miles each year.
