Royal Mail calls for dog owners to control pets

Royal Mail calls for dog owners to control pets

A new campaign is to be launched in Swansea that will see dog owners encouraged to keep their dogs under control.

Individuals may want to invest in pet supplies after news that the Royal Mail in Wales is calling for a dog safety campaign.

According to the BBC, there were more than 200 attacks on postal workers over the course of the last year, with the injuries resulting in 352 days of sick leave.

As a result, Swansea is set to see the launch of a new initiative designed to encourage dog owners to keep their animals under control.

The city has been chosen as it was recorded as having the second highest number of incidents.

Postman Wayne Davies described how he has been the victim of an attack and the number of occurrences seems to be increasing.

"For some reason some dogs go ballistic when they see a postman, I don't know if it's the uniform or the red colour of the bag," he stated.

Elsewhere, postman David Power recently told the BBC how he is in full support of such campaigns after he was the victim of a dog attack in Builth Wells, Powys.
