Gay dog show returns to Newcastle

Newcastle is to host the second annual Paws with Pride event this weekend.
Animal lovers may want to invest in pet supplies ahead of a gay dog show that is taking place in Newcastle. The Paws with Pride event is due to return to Leazes Park following its successful launch last year, the BBC reports.
Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community are invited to show their pets in the 12 classes that award prizes for the cheekiest expression, waggiest tail and dog that looks most like its owner.
Although the event is aimed at the LGBT community, heterosexual entrants are also welcome.
The show's organiser Ken Mortimer said: "People love a dog show, people love animals. That kind of love and enthusiasm for animals isn't determined by someone's sexual orientation."
Individuals do not have to register before the event on Sunday, but any pets being entered must be older than six months.
The show takes its inspiration from the legendary Crufts event that is organised annually by the Kennel Club, which is set to release the 2012 entry form in the autumn.
