Dog crates offer "a place of safety" for new arrivals

New dogs can benefit from the security offered by a crate or large cage.
Investing in a dog crate is a wise move for anyone who is considering taking in a dog, regardless of whether it is a puppy or already fully grown.Dogs can take time to become accustomed to their surroundings when they are introduced to a new home and animal behaviourist and managing director of SafePets UK Debbie Connolly said a crate or large cage can give the animal a refuge when it is feeling worried.
"It [will have] a place of safety and retreat if things are getting a bit too much for it," she explained, adding the dog can also use it to avoid "being poked by the kids or annoyed by other pets".
The Vital Dog Crate and Tray could be ideal for new owners of dogs of all sizes, as it is available in a variety of measurements up to 124x76x84 cm and is fitted with front and side openings, giving the pet easy access.
Hagen Crate Beds, which are available in five sizes and are fully washable, can help make the space as comfortable as possible for the dog.
