Good-quality dog food 'worth the investment'

An expert believes it is worth spending money on high-quality dog food.
Although there are lots of pet supplies people will need to buy when taking on an animal, good-quality dog food is the most important purchase. This is according to Sarah Linehan from The Pet Experience, who discussed the importance of giving animals the right meals and how it can keep them healthy.
She explained high-quality products are much better for dogs because they are not filled with unnatural chemicals and additives.
Although it could mean people have to pay a little more initially than they would if they were buying standard pet food from a supermarket, the quality of the product could mean the purchase actually works out cheaper.
Ms Linehan said: "Although the bag may cost more, usually the high quality brands work out cheaper in the long term as the feeding quantities are much lower, so the bag will last a lot longer than the cheap bag from the local supermarket."
What is more, there could be long-term benefits to buying good-quality dog food, both for the animals and their owners' purse.
Ms Linehan claimed dogs will be happier and healthier - both physically and mentally - if they receive a good diet and therefore people will not have to spend as much on vets bills when they get older.
There are plenty of products for people to choose from, with many catered to specific sizes and breeds of dog to ensure they get all the nutrients they need.
Arden Grange adult dog food contains Omega 6 and 3 fatty acids to keep dogs' skin healthy and their coat glossy, while it is ideal for pets that suffer from allergies due to its wholesome ingredients of rice and chicken.
Alternatively, Naturediet dog food is available for puppies, adult and senior dogs and only contains natural ingredients to ensure it is as beneficial as possible for pets.
