Did you know your kitten will develop 75% of its adult body weight during the first six months of its life?
Kitten food is speciallly formulated to contain plenty of nutrients to support healthy organ and tissue development. Other essential minerals including calcium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorous and iron will help them to build strong teeth and bones. Another important aspect of kitten food is that it is manufactured in smaller pieces to make it easier for them to chew as they have smaller mouths.
Kittens will be ready to wean at around six or eight weeks old although most kittens will nibble on solid foods at three to four weeks. At this time you should try them with a specially formulated wet or dry kitten food. If you try to wean a kitten too early it could damage its tummy so make sure you start with small amounts, such as a tablespoonful four or five times a day. Your kitten should be ready to move to solid foods at around ten or twelve weeks old.
